For treatment of AD to be most effective, it is believed that the regimen must be started before clinical diagnosis of AD, at the stage of MCI. In the current study, we measured T1rho (T1ρ) relaxation time in the hippocampus of control, MCI and AD cohorts. The AD individuals showed significantly higher T1ρ value compared to control and MCI. A significant increased T1ρ value was also observed in MCI compared to control. We suggest that the measurement of hippocampus T1ρ relaxation time may provides a marker in the early diagnosis of AD.
