T2-weighted MR imaging is an evolving modality in
prostate cancer diagnosis. Although T2-weighted MRI has
a good sensitivity but it has low specificity. The
specificity of the T2-weighted MRI, however, may be
improved by calculating prostate tissue elasticity
distribution. Tissue elasticity properties are known to
be prostate cancer biomarkers. In this research project,
an MR elastography technique is proposed to reconstruct
tissue Youngs modulus with the aim of improving
T2-weighted MR imaging specificity. The proposed
technique only utilizes T2-weighted MR imaging
information and does not require any additional
peripheral devices. It also does not appreciably disrupt
the clinical flow.
