Despite the existence of the TEM resonator and some
travelling wave excitation methods most 7T body imaging is performed with
local TX/RX arrays. A novel volume coil concept for high and ultra high field
MRI body systems is presented with simulation results which does not utilize
a resonating structure but excites a large volume with a multi-pass
travelling wave in a very simple way.
