In
a rat model of graded juvenile traumatic brain injury (jTBI), we
characterized iron mediated neuropathology using multi-modal MRI that
correlated with histology and tissue iron measures. Our results showed that
SWI was sensitive to monitor pathological iron accumulation in vivo following
increasing jTBI severity that correlates with increased tissue iron
deposition, especially, non-heme iron concentration. The iron-mediated
neuropathology was dominant in corpus callosum at this age.
