Dynamic
hyperpolarized [1-13C]- pyruvate metabolic imaging in normal anesthetized rat
brain is demonstrated on a clinical 3T MRI scanner. A 12 s bolus injection of
hyperpolarized [1-13C]-pyruvate is imaged at a 3 s temporal resolution using
125 msec spiral spectroscopic images. The observed dynamics are evaluated
with respect to cerebral blood volume, flow, transport, and metabolic
exchange with the cerebral lactate pool.
