Parallel spatially-selective excitation / TransmitSENSE allows specific excitation of defined regions. In the present study this technique was successfully applied to the removal of motion artifacts in rat imaging: Signal from vessels in the rat head which showed up as ghost artifacts superimposed on the rats brain could be efficiently suppressed by selective excitation of the rat brain only. These in-vivo results underline the potential of TransmitSENSE for the prevention of artifacts originating from flow or motion.
