First principles of statistical physics (Boltzmanns distribution and the fluctuation-dissipation theorem) are used to analyze the current fluctuations in a system of linear circuits. Accordingly, the correlation matrices of total noise and of noise at a given frequency are formulated as functions of circuit properties. These noise correlation matrices are connected consistently through the Kramers-Kronig relation. Experiments using a network analyzer and an MR scanner confirmed the predictions from statistical physics.
