Two tensor analysis to resolve crossing tracts in white matter can be performed using standard clinical DTI data when certain geometrical constraints are incorporated. In this work the constrained two-tensor method is critically evaluated using simulations to determine: A) in which cases it is applicable, B) what the associated errors in tract determination are, and C) the optimal data acquisition parameters.
