HASTE is a fast sequence which acquires half k-space data in one shot. It is a valid candidate for carotid artery imaging since most physiological motions can be considered frozen during such a short scan time. However, its long echo train length must be reduced to image vessel wall which has a short T2. Reduced phase FOV combined with parallel imaging can greatly shorten the echo train length, reducing T2 decay related blurring to an acceptable level. Multiple averages can be acquired to enhance SNR. The combination of KIPA and Homodyne reconstruction gave acceptable single-shot images.
