Due to the complexity of brain microstructure
and organization, the validation of tractography results remains a challenging
problem. In this work, effect of SNR and b value of diffusion imaging on the variability and errors of tractography was
evaluated through a software phantom developed by
Tractometer. Three fiber tracking algorithms based on DTI, CSD, and Q-sampling were tested.
Large false positive and false negative rate was seen for all methods, regardless of SNR or b value. A moderate thresholding can reduce false positive
rate and total error rate.
