Traumatic brain injury is among the most common
neurological disorders. Sports related injuries are a
major cause of mild TBI among youth and young adults. We
followed two ice hockey teams over a season and
performed MRI and neuropsychological testing at
pre-season and post-season and at serial timepoints
following concussions. We measured changes in diffusion
tensor imaging parameters using both a region of
interest analysis and tract-based spatial statistics. We
found evidence of brain structure changes in both
concussed and non-concussed players.
