Proton density and T
2
-weighted fast spin echo
images are frequently acquired in clinical MRI exams. T
2
quantification
is commonly performed in the clinic via applying an
exponential fit to these two images, despite recent
evidence that an exponential fit is insufficient to
correctly quantify T
2
. We present T
2
quantification
by implementing stimulated echo compensated T
2
fitting
using only a proton density-weighted and a T
2
-weighted
fast spin echo image. This method is demonstrated in the
human brain in comparison to a standard quantitative
multi-echo spin echo approach.
