Whole body 18FDG-PET/MRI as compared with 18FDG-PET/CT in metastatic breast cancer

In this prospective disease-specific study of 50
breast cancer patients, 18FDG-PET/MRI detected
potentially treatment changing brain, liver and
bone metastases not seen on PET/CT in 8 (16%) or
patients and PET/CT occult in situ breast
cancers in 5 (10%). Average 18FDG-PET/MRI
radiation dose was 50% that of 18FDG-PET/CT.
