Loss of cartilage collagen, proteoglycans (PG), glycosaminoglycans (GAG) are responsible for osteoarthritis (OA). MRI biomarkers T2 (sensitive to collagen), magnetization transfer (MT) and T1ρ, (sensitive to PG), and GAGCEST (sensitive to GAG) can detect OA at early stages.
