High-resolutional visualization of the lenticulostriate artery: Application of compressed sensing for faster acquisition

Visualization of the lenticulostriate artery (LSA) using
TOF-MRA requires high resolution and takes long
acquisition time, which might be mitigated by
under-sampling and compressed sensing (CS)
reconstruction. However, application of CS to small
structures such as LSA is yet to be investigated.
CS-reconstructed images of 25, 50 and 75% data were
compared with the full-sampled images in 11 volunteers.
Under-sampling of 75% data was comparable to the
control, but visualization was impaired at 50% and 25%.
Higher contrast between LSA and background, as well as
improved CS reconstruction, would be required for LSA
visualization.
