Neurovascular coupling represents a central tenet of
functional MRI research. However, in the rodent
striatum, the directionality of vascular responses to
neural activity is not always clear. Here, we employ
optogenetic-fMRI to uncover two striatal circuit
mechanisms of activity-induced vasoconstriction.
