In this work we use a stretched exponential model of 3He diffusion MR to assess changes in lung microstructure in young adults with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. Diffusivity DDC values were significantly elevated in the left lung of 8 of the 9 patients, while interlung differences in heterogeneity index &[alpha] were present only in 6 patients. Our results have shown that although most patients presented airway enlargement in the left lung, microstructural changes related to the developmental defect of the diaphragm only occur in some of them.
