Physiological motion caused by respiration leads to image artifacts in abdominal DTI. Even in respiratory triggered scans residual motion remains. The aim of this study on 12 subjects was to employ non-rigid image registration of individual echo planar DTI images of human kidneys, which are virtually free of motion artifacts, and to compare the variability of the determined diffusion parameters and image blurring with the standard processing.
