Real-time
cardiac MRI together with velocity mapping for blood flow quantification in
different arteries were applied to study the cardiovascular performance of
the marine crustacean Cancer pagurus, an animal model with a natural
cardiovascular disorder. The feasibility of MRI for future monitoring of
heart functioning and blood flow in a marine crustacean under conditions of
ocean warming and acidification could be shown.
