Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (aMCI) is a syndrome with faster memory decline than normal aging, and frequently represents the prodromal phase of Alzheimers disease. In this study, group independent component analysis was conducted for resting-state fMRI data with slice perpendicular to the long axis of the hippocampus to investigate the default mode network (DMN). Decreased activity in left MTL was observed for aMCI. No volume difference between the aMCI group and the control group were found in the MTL. Altered DMN activity in aMCI may indicate deficiencies in functional brain architecture even before MTL atrophy is detectable.
