15 patients with chronic stroke received intracerebral autograft CD34+ stem cell implantation. The stem cells were labeled with supermagnetic nanoparticles which appeared as hypointensity on T2W gradient images. Longitudinal follow-up of the implanted nanoparticles with T2W gradient images were scheduled and mean R2 relaxivity of hypointense area at each time point was calculated. We found some of the injected magnetic nanoparticles which labeled on the stem cell can be detected on the T2W gradient images in the 6-month follow-up. The clearance patterns are associated with the relative injected location to the infracted lesion.
