A low-cost interface device for control of scan plane orientation is presented. Designed for use in interventional MRI, the device enables the physician to control the location and orientation of scan planes from within the MRI scanner room without the help of an outside scanner operator. It is built from off-the-shelf components and is completely configurable to suit an individual physicians preferences or a specific application. The total material cost of the device is less than $300 and it is sufficiently generic to be used with most modern MRI systems.
