Strong B0 field inhomogeities at 7T can decrease significantly brain T2* values that are related to brain tissue iron content. An improved correction method considering both linear and quadratic B0 variations was described and implemented in this study. The results showed significant improvement on T2* values compared to that of the linear correction method at intermediate susceptibility gradients (50 150 μT/m). The new method therefore allow for more reliable T2* mapping for 7T in vivo studies.
