Both cognitive and anatomical neuroscience relies on commonly held reference systems such as the Brodmann map. Unfortunately, these maps are relatively coarse and ignore interindividual individual variability. Both these limitations can be overcome by MRI, although the exact contrast is unclear. We propose diffusionweighted images, present a image processing pipeline and demonstrate reproducible signal which is specific to the given cortical region the voxel resides in. Such data should allow computer intensive pattern recognition methods to parcellate the human cortex invivo.
