Observation of Cardiovascular Dynamics by Field Recording with an NMR Probe

In this work, field measurements with an NMR field probe are explored as a means of observing cardiovascular dynamics. Using an optimized probe and custom-built transmit and receive hardware, field measurements were performed at different position on a volunteers chest. The measurements were found to reveal detailed and highly periodic field dynamics at the cardiac frequency, indicating that these reflect actual dynamics of heart motion and blood flow.
