Chemical
shift artifacts in magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT)
degrade the accuracy of the reconstructed conductivity. In this study, we investigated the use of
the iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and
least-squares estimation (IDEAL) algorithm to remove these artifacts in a
simple fat/water phantom. The results
demonstrate that this technique can be used to correct for chemical shift
artifacts in MREIT.
