A
size up to 3 cm lesion in the adrenal glands leads the patient to surgery.
MRS is a promising tool for the classification of adrenal masses. We
evaluated the advantages of multiple channel phased array (32-channel) coil
in the respiratory-triggered proton single-voxel MR spectroscopy technique at
1.5 T for the diagnosis of adrenal masses and the differentiation between
them. The gain in signal of the 32 channel coil gave an excellent spectral
quality even in a free breathing acquisition at 1.5 Tesla. It is possible in
deed to differentiate the types of masses by their spectral characteristics
and ratios.
