Using
long-range diffusion MRI, ADC of rats with induced emphysema in one lobe has
been performed. The results show a statistically significant increase of ADC
in the emphysematous lobe at breath-hold, whereas no significant difference
is seen at end expiration. Collateral ventilation could play a role in these
results. The increase seen at breath-hold agrees with the results found by
other workers.
