The
diffusion profile in semantic dementia (SD) was studied to examine the
profile of connection changes. Tract-based spatial statistics in SD patients
provided compelling evidence that the network is distinct to that of Alzheimers
disease (AD), and indicated that the key abnormality exiting the temporal
lobe was in the uncinate fasciculus projection to the orbital frontal lobe.
The tensor behaviours also indicated that the nature of the neurodegenerative
in SD differs qualitatively from that seen in AD.
