and shim coils designed with minimum power or stored energy can possess
regions of high current density. A new method has been developed to spread
out these areas of high current density, which should lead to lower peak
temperatures. Here we test the heating properties of such minimax current
density coils with and show that indeed the peak temperature is reduced in a
model coil.
