heart disease (CHD) remains one of the leading causes of morbidity and
mortality worldwide. A principal symptom of CHD is myocardial infarction
(MI), which leads to a complex process of ventricular remodelling and
ultimately heart failure. Novel treatment strategies which are capable of
limiting myocardial infarct size, preventing
