We
present a comparison of a newly designed dual-channel, rigid endorectal coil
for both imaging and spectroscopic imaging of the prostate with a standard, single-channel, inflatable
endorectal coil, demonstrating a SNR improvement of up to ~500% in the
near-coil area (where the prostate peripheral zone is located), and up to
~150% at depth (where the prostate
central zone is located). This huge SNR improvement allows for greatly
improved MR/MRSI imaging of the
prostate.
