The
potential of cost function guided shimming was shown at 3T for finding
optimal shim fields that minimize B0 inhomogeneities on a
user-defined region of interest while confining the B0
inhomogeneities outside this ROI. Experiments and simulations using the hybrid
shimming approach show the possibility to control frequency selective fat
suppression in abdomen and pelvic imaging while maintaining good B0
homogeneity in the region of interest.
