In
the present study, we present a novel technique termed TrueFISP based Spin
Tagging with Alternating Radiofrequency (TrueSTAR) for both time-resolved 4-D
MR angiography (MRA) and dynamic microvascular flow (perfusion) imaging. We
demonstrate that TrueSTAR is able to delineate the dynamic filling of
cerebrovasculature with a spatial resolution of 1x1x1mm3 and a temporal
resolution of 50ms. Dynamic microvascular flow imaging using TrueSTAR is able
to follow hemodynamic changes during visual cortex activation every 85ms.
