CE-MRA can determine the type of dissection; display the true and false
lumina, intimal flap, location and size of the initial entry and its relationship
with the neighboring arterial orifice, and presence and amount of thrombus in
false lumen. These data are important for the planning of surgical and
endovascular therapy. Furthermore, it does not require iodinated contrast
material, is radiation free, and has low morbidity. It combines the
advantages of arterial angiography with those of MR imaging and, unlike CT
angiography, does not require the removal of bone structures for adequate
visualization of the vasculature.
