Validation
of 4D Left Ventricular Blood Flow Assessment Using Pathlines

A
validation study of a pathline based left ventricular (LV) blood flow quantification approach is
presented. The approach integrates morphological and three-directional,
three-dimensional cine phase-contrast MRI flow data, to separate the blood
that transits the LV
into four components. The validation includes comparison of the LV outflow obtained from this approach to results from
clinically applied methods of determining LV outflow: 2D through-plane cine PC-MRI
and Doppler ultrasound. Additionally inflow and outflow volumes obtained from
the pathline based approach were compared.
