Steady
state free precession phase-contrast (PC-SSFP) is proposed for measurement of
nontriggered time-averaged velocity as it exhibits less signal variation over
the cardiac cycle than conventional PC-MR. It is shown that Cartesian
nontriggered PC-SSFP provides an accurate mean-velocity measurement while
conventional nontriggered PC-MR overestimates the mean velocity due to
in-flow effects.
