We determined the regional DTI characteristics of patients with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) compared to patients with Alzheimers disease (AD) and cognitively normal elderly (CN). Cortical ADC was higher in amygdala in patients with DLB (n=24) and AD (n=24) than CN (n=24). ADC was higher in the hippocampus, the rest of the temporal lobe and the posterior cingulum tract in AD than DLB and CN. Posterior cingulum tract FA was lower in patients with AD than DLB and CN. Regional DTI changes were consistent with the expected pattern of neurodegenerative pathological involvement in DLB and AD.
