A new method for the quantitative evaluation of the torque by which a cardiovascular device tends to be aligned along the static magnetic field is here proposed and validated. The method is based on a torsion balance, which enables accurate measurements of small forces. In our experimental set-up the method allowed measurement of torques as small as 10-5 N*m and is therefore applicable to small devices such as stents.
