Effectively measuring BOLD contrast in breast tissue has been a challenge due to motion artifacts from the nearby beating heart. This study provides a new method for measuring BOLD contrast by saturating the signal from the heart and stimulating the BOLD response by jittering inhalation of pure oxygen. With the application of this new pulse sequence and method design, BOLD contrast in the breast can be measured more reliably and with greater signal response.
