The metabolic syndrome is pathology in strong increase. The ratio between the surface of intra-abdominal fat and subcutaneous fat appears as a good predictor of this pathology. The measure of this ratio by MRI needs a long and tedious manual segmentation by the experts. We propose a fast and automatic method based on fuzzy algorithms to evaluate this ratio. This method is tested on 10 patients with a metabolic syndrome. Statistical results are studied in comparison with the expert quantification. The potential of this algorithm for a fast and reliable quantification was demonstrated in this study.
