Abstract #2771
Cerebral Blood Volume: Measurement and Change
Turner R, Thomas D
University College London
SYNOPSISTechniques for measurement, by MRI and optical means, of cerebral blood volume (CBV) are compared and contrasted. At least three different physical quantities are commonly described by this term. The Monro-Kellie argument relating to CBV changes is reviewed, and a novel mechanism for the observed CBV changes during functional activation is proposed, with experimental predictions.
