There is clinical need for improved methods of measuring renal function. This study shows that a dynamic gadolinium enhanced MR imaging technique of the kidney can measure renal functional response to a physiological change induced by an amino acid challenge test. This study helps to demonstrate the capability of this technique to reproducibly measure altered renal function.
