A diffusion coefficient distribution model to describe the b-value dependence of ADC in diffusion-weighted hyperpolarized gas MRI

A quantitative model for understanding the dependence of apparent diffusion coefficient on b-value is presented. In this model it is possible to obtain information about the degree of restricted diffusion in the medium of interest. The model is applied to hyperpolarized (HP) gas MRI data from two porous phantoms and rat lungs and appears to agree well with expected levels of restriction.
