The multivariate technique Bayesian Source Separation (BSS) was employed to investigate the drug-induced BOLD response of paralimbic human cortex, using the simultaneously measured BOLD signals of subcortical afferents as reference waveforms. BSS yielded improved activation statistics, and revealed significant interaction between the reference waveforms. BSS was shown to be a potentially useful probe of complex BOLD data relating drug-induced brain activity of different regions of interest.
