Recording EEG together with fMRI has permitted to
unravel the neuronal correlates of spontaneous brain
activity. However the mechanisms involved in the
coupling between epileptic discharges (EDs) and the
hemodynamic response are partially known. Actually, the
interpretation of fMRI results (activated or
deactivated), in terms of underlying physiological
processes crucially depend on the understanding of these
mechanisms. In this work, we measured local field
potentials simultaneously with changes in BOLD signal,
cerebral blood flow (via ASL) and cerebral blood volume
(via Mion fMRI) in the rat somatosensory cortex
following intracortical bicuculline injection eliciting
interictal-like discharges.
