: Despite the growing prevalence of Parkinsons disease, the progression of neuronal loss in the dopaminergic nigrostriatal pathway has yet to be fully elucidated. In this study, we utilize chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) to examine molecular changes in progressive neuronal loss in a 6-hydroxydopamine induced rat model. In particular, we examined Amide Proton Transfer (APT*) and the Nuclear Overhauser Effect (NOE*) as indicators of macromolecular protein changes and investigated the additional information that may be ascertained from Amine Proton EXchange (APEX).
